Day 1: BUCHAREST / CURTEA DE ARGES


Departure for Bucharest on regular flight. Pick-up of the vehicle at the airport and drive to Curtea de Arges which has two essential monuments of art: the princely court was the capital of Wallachia from 1330 and the monastery with white sculpted walls. The city is also appreciated for its crafts. Accommodation in Curtea de Arges, Pension 4* or similar.

Day 2: CURTEA DE ARGES / COZIA / SIBIU / SIBIEL

Recommended visits along the way: the remarkable Cozia Monastery in the Olt valley, the beautiful Saxon town of Sibiu and the picturesque little village of Sibiel, renowned for its glass icon painters. Accommodation in Sibiel village, Pension or similar, 3*.

Day 3: SIBIEL / HUNEDOARA / SARMISEGETUZA / ALBA IULIA

Recommended visits along the way: the majestic medieval fortress of Hunedoara; the ancient site of Sarmisegetuza Regia, capital of Roman Dacia; the citadel of Alba Iulia, historic capital of the principality of Transylvania. Accommodation in Alba Iulia, hotel 4* or similar.

Day 4: ALBA IULIA / TURDA / CLUJ NAPOCA

Recommended visits along the way: the incredible natural landscape of the Turda gorges and the Turda Salt Mine which offers a spectacular underground space; the charming bicultural city of Cluj Napoca, Romanian and Hungarian. Accommodation in Cluj Napoca, hotel 4* or similar.

Day 5: CLUJ NAPOCA / SAPANTA / VADU IZEI

Things to see en route to the isolated Maramures region: the famous “Merry Cemetery” of Sapanta and the picturesque village of Vadu Izei, renowned for its talented artisans. Day 6: VADU IZEI / CAMPULUNG MOLDOVENESC / VORONET


Discover the wild landscapes and authentic rural traditions of Maramures, in the Iza and Mara valleys, and visit the wood museum in Campulung Moldovenesc. Accommodation in Gura Humorului 4*  or similar in Voronet.

Day 7: VORONET / MOLDOVITA / SUCEVITA / HUMOR / VORONET

Spend the day visiting some of the most beautiful painted monasteries in Bukovina, famous jewels of Moldavian art: Voronet, the Sistine Chapel of the East, the fortified monastery of Moldovita and its famous fresco of the capture of Constantinople, Sucevita monastery richly decorated with scenes from the Old Testament.

Day 8: VORONET / AGAPIA / PIATRA NEAMT

Recommended visits along the way: the Neamt Monastery, the most monumental place of worship in Moldova; the home of naive artist Nicolae Popa, creator of popular masks; Agapia, the largest monastery of Orthodox nuns in Europe; the city of Piatra Neamt where you can see the princely court of Stephen the Great. Accommodation in Piatra Neamt, Hotel 4* or similar.

Day 9: PIATRA NEAMT / PREJMER / BRAN / BRASOV

To see along the way: the spectacular Bicaz gorges passing through Red Lake, a natural curiosity; the large church of Prejmer, fortified by the Teutonic Knights; Bran Castle, which legend says belonged to Count Dracula. Accommodation in Brasov, Hotel 3* or similar.

Day 10: BRASOV / ZARNESTI / FAGARAS / BRASOV

To see in Brasov and the region: the picturesque Transylvanian town of Brasov with its famous Black Church, its old Schei district, the Weavers’ bastion; the Carpathian Bears Sanctuary in Zarnesti and the Citadel of Fagaras. Accommodation in Brasov, Hotel 3* or similar.

Day 11: BRASOV / SINAIA / BUCHAREST

Recommended visits along the way: Sinaia the “Pearl of the Carpathians” with its Sinaia monastery and the remarkable royal Castle of Peles in German Renaissance style. Take the Royal Road to Bucharest. Accommodation in Bucharest, hotel 4* or similar.

Day 12: BUCHAREST

Things to see in the Romanian capital: the old quarter and the Curtea Veche, the Palace of Parliament – the city’s most controversial monument, the charming Village Museum, the princely residences in the old city center. Accommodation in Bucharest, hotel 4* or similar.

Day 12: BUCHAREST – departure

Return of the vehicle to the hotel and we will transfer you to the airport.

 

Price:

  • Accommodation 12 nights BB in DBL = FROM 1600 EUR/pax
  • No TPL room available
  • Rent a private car at request 100 EUROS/day (all insurancies included); refundable guarantee = 500 EUR
  • If the arrival flight will be in the time frame 20:00-08:00, 50 EUR will be added for the car rental service.

Conditions:

  • Hotels will be confirmed depending on the places available for each hotel at the time of booking;
  • Upon reservation, a 30% deposit will be paid. The rest of 70%, 10 days before arrival.
