Romanian and Moldovian flavors

Day 1. The Romanian capital mix between the East and the Western world
Arrival in Bucharest. Meeting with the English-speaking guide and transfer to town.
Panoramic visit: Romanian Athenaeum, Palace of Parliament (exterior). Accommodation in a 3* hotel located in the center of the city. Welcome meal in a traditional restaurant and return to the hotel.
Day 2. Wallachia – the Urlati cellars

Departure from Bucharest in the morning to Urlati, well known for its wines. The “princess” of wines is Noir Feteasca (Fetească Neagră), a unique lineage found only in Romania. This grape variety gives a black colored wine and its fruity flavor is reminiscent of black berries. After the visit to the cellar and tasting of the harvest, lunch with regional wine.
Road in the Prahova valley towards Sinaia, called the ‘Pearl of the Carpathians’. Visit to Peles Castle, a former royal residence, built in 1883. Dinner and accommodation in Sinaia in a 3* hotel.
Day 3. Transylvania… Cetatea de Baltă – Jidvei

In the morning, direction Braşov (Kronstadt), one of the most important cities in Transylvania.
Walk in a medieval citadel. Lunch and free time in the city. Route through Cetatea de Baltă, rectangular castle built in the French Renaissance style. The estate produced a large part of the wine from bottles of Jidvei.
Wine tasting and dinner with Romanian specialties. The vines of Jidvei are a symbol between the balance of acidity, alcohol and flavors, evoking the powerful scent of pine raisin, linden flowers and the sweetness of acacia honey. The wineries have won more than 100 gold medals in national competitions and international competitions.
Continue to Sighişoara, birthplace of the historical character Count Vlad Dracula. Night in a 3* hotel in Sighisoara.
Day 4. Sweet Moldova, which delights the eyes
In the morning, visit the medieval citadel of Sighişoara, listed by UNESCO, one of the most beautiful medieval cities in Romania. Along the streets, the town offers a multitude of charms. The 175 steps of the school staircase built and covered with wood in 1642, belong to the church on the hill dedicated to Saint Nicholas and built in 1345.
Road through Moldova through a beautiful region marked by the Szekler culture, Hungarian minority. Arrival at the magnificent Red Lake. Lunch. Walk for half hour / hour through the impressive Bicaz Gorges.
Arrival in the evening at Piatra-Neamt. Dinner and accommodation in a 3* hotel.
Day 5. The Cotnari vines, more than 700 years of winemaking…

In the morning, departure to the village of Târpesti to visit the collection of ceremonial masks by the Romanian artist Nicolae Popa. Typical lunch prepared by the family artist, with holy water and wine.
Route through one of the most famous caves in the country, the Cotnari caves. The vines have more than 700 years old and the best known assortments are Grasă, Tămâioasă and Frâncuşă. Visit the wine tasting cellars.
In the evening arrived in Iasi, capital of the Moldavian region, built on eight hills. The city has strongly influenced by 19th century French style. Iasi is known for its university, one of the oldest and most prestigious in Romania. Named “The City of Chronicles”, it has long been considered the cultural and spiritual capital of the country. Dinner and night in a 3* hotel in the city center.
Day 6. The Republic of Moldova – Essential visit to the
Cricova Cellars…

Crossing the border with the Republic of MOLDOVA. Please note: remember to take your UK passport which must be valid 6 months after your return to UK
In the morning, travel to the Republic of Moldova, called “The Little Sister of Romania”. Visit the Cricova cellars which have wines of uncountable value. Created in 1952, the caves can be found 60 to 89 m underground. The underground galleries are approximately 60 km long! It’s an entire underground city dedicated to wine. The Cricova cellars have been declared National Cultural Heritage and awarded the Order of the Republic. After the tasting, a hearty lunch will be served to you.
Transfer to Chisinău, capital of the Republic of Moldova. City tour followed by a light dinner in a traditional restaurant. Accommodation in a 3* hotel.
Day 7. The cellars of Milestii Mici

After breakfast, visit Milestii Mici, the largest wine cellar in the world and part of the Guinness World. The winery can be compared to an underground city, with a multitude of streets where an impressive collection of wines can be found. A wine tasting will be offered, followed by a hearty lunch. Afternoon return to Romania. Arrival in Galati. Dinner with Moldovan specialties and accommodation in a 3* hotel.
Day 8. Galati – Bucharest Latin, Slavic and Oriental city
After breakfast, drive to Bucharest. Stop in Slobozia to visit the National Agricultural Museum, home to 8.000 agricultural engines. Lunch in a local restaurant.
Continue to Bucharest. In the evening, stroll through the old and historic center to see the Stavropoleos Church, a true gem of 13th century Roman architecture, and the recently renovated shopping streets speak of the city in another era.
Farewell dinner in a famous restaurant in the city center. Night in a 3* hotel in Bucharest.
Day 9. Bucharest

In the morning, depending on flight schedules, visit to the city of Bucharest and visit to the Village Museum (the largest open-air ethnographic museum in Europe) and free time for the latest acquisitions… Road to the airport.
